In the heart of Berlin, amidst the warm August sun, sofatutor’s summer event week was abuzz with energy and enthusiasm. Among the many activities and gatherings that took place, one event stood out for its unique and refreshing approach to fostering learning and connection: our first sofatutor unconference. In this post, you’ll get to know this unconventional event, which combined both sofatutor’s core value of learning while also reinforcing the motto of our summer event week: deepening team connections.

Following the tradition of all coming together once a year (read more about our very first summer event week here), we spent three work days in Berlin, working, learning and celebrating as an international remote first team.

May was the month of health at sofatutor. We understand that learning is not solely about acquiring new skills but also about nurturing the well-being of our team members. By embracing a remote-first philosophy and assembling a diverse team of experts from around the globe, we are thriving for a work environment that focuses on individual needs and improves our wellbeing.

Today you will get to know Kemal, his personal and professional development at sofatutor, and his very own contribution to improving educational opportunities internationally. Kemal’s passion for alternative education and his willingness to learn opened doors to new opportunities. Through dedication, continuous learning, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the world, Kemal has made his steps from working student in IT infrastructure to fullstack development in one of our agile cross functional teams.

Aiming to break down traditional gender roles and promote diversity and equality, we pursue different initiatives internally and externally as a team. This year one of them was our first participation in the Girls’ and Boys’ Day 2023, which aims to counteract prejudices of young students towards “typical” women’s and men’s professions.

Since we spend several hours a day sitting in front of our monitors or attending meetings, exercise can be a good compensation. Sports can also improve your mood and your ability to concentrate.
